NYSCEF Attorney Login

How to log in to NYSCEF as an attorney in New York, plus registration help and fixes for the most common login problems. This is an independent guide — logging in and filing always happens on the official NYSCEF system.

Go to NYSCEF Login → Opens the official NYSCEF portal at iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef in a new tab.

Already registered?

Go directly to the official NYSCEF system at iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef and enter your attorney registration number and password. Forgot your password? Use the “Forgot Password” link on the login page or call the NYSCEF help desk at (646) 386-3033.

Not yet registered?

Attorneys must register for NYSCEF through the official New York Courts portal. You will need your NY State attorney registration number. Registration is free — start at the official NYSCEF site ↗.

Consent to e-filing

Where e-filing is voluntary (not mandatory), all parties must consent before documents can be filed through NYSCEF. Use the Eligibility Checker → to see whether e-filing is mandatory or voluntary for your county and case type.

Common login issues

I forgot my NYSCEF password
Use the “Forgot Password” link on the NYSCEF login page to reset it by email. If you no longer have access to the email on file, or the reset does not arrive, call the NYSCEF help desk at (646) 386-3033.
My attorney registration number isn’t being accepted
Confirm you are entering your NY State attorney registration number exactly as issued (no spaces), and that your biennial attorney registration is current. If it still fails, your NYSCEF account may not be linked to that number yet — contact the NYSCEF help desk at (646) 386-3033.
I’m getting a “not authorized” error
A “not authorized” error usually means your account is not permitted to file in that court, county, or case type, or you are not counsel of record on the case. Verify the matter is e-filing eligible with the Eligibility Checker, confirm you have been added to the case, and contact the NYSCEF help desk if the problem persists.
NYSCEF says my account is locked
Accounts can lock after repeated failed login attempts. Wait a few minutes and try again with a reset password, or call the NYSCEF help desk at (646) 386-3033 to have the lock cleared.
I need to add a new case to my account
Once logged in to NYSCEF, use the case-consent / add-a-case function to associate yourself with an existing matter, or file the commencement documents to start a new one. Whether a matter is eligible for e-filing depends on the county, court, and case type — check the Eligibility Checker first.

Still stuck? Check whether the system itself is having problems on our live NYSCEF status page →, or reach the NYSCEF help desk at (646) 386-3033.
