About NYSCEF Tools

nyscef.com is a free, public reference for New York litigation practice. It combines two tools attorneys, paralegals, and self-represented litigants reach for constantly: a CPLR deadline calculator and a NYSCEF e-filing eligibility checker, plus a statute of limitations lookup.

Not the official NYSCEF system

This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the New York State Unified Court System, the Office of Court Administration, or NYSCEF. To actually file documents, use the official system at iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef.

How the deadline calculator works

Each triggering event maps to one or more CPLR rules. We add the statutory period to your date, apply any service-method adjustment (mail +5 calendar days under CPLR 2103(b)(2), overnight +1 business day under CPLR 2103(b)(6), NYSCEF e-service +2 days under Uniform Rule 202.5-b(f)(2)), then roll any deadline that lands on a weekend or New York public holiday to the next business day (CPLR 2103(a) / General Construction Law §25-a). Every result links to the governing statute on nysenate.gov so you can verify it in one click.

Data sources

Deadline logic is drawn directly from the text of the CPLR. Eligibility data is compiled from the NYSCEF site, county court websites, administrative orders, and joint-protocol PDFs; each record carries a “last verified” date.
